Settling back in to life in the UK

After being away from "home" for 6 weeks, we have returned to the UK. It was hard leaving family and friends all over again. When we left Houston it was close to 100 degrees outside, but it was a beautiful 70 degrees when we landed in London. We spent the first couple of days getting Zachary comfortable in his new home and over a nasty cough. In fact he ran fever for the first 2 days. We went to Avery's school to meet her teacher and see the names of her classmates. She was happy she knew several of the friends in her class. It would have been great if her friend from Humble was in her class. Some friends from Humble have moved over and live not far from us and their kids will also attend ACS Cobham. Avery said she would help show them the ropes. It will be fun getting to know the Richards better and sharing the experience together. Oh yea, it was Bruce's birthday on Sunday but with Zach not feeling well we didn't really get to do much.

Today is actually the first day of school and Avery was excited to ride the bus. She thinks she is real cool! Yesterday was a bank holiday, hence the reason for school starting on a Tuesday. We went shopping over the weekend to take advantage of some early deals on winter clothing. Bruce said we would need more than Texas pullovers to survive a UK winter! So of course Avery went hog wild and Zachary just went wild, then to sleep. Actually, they were both very good, but Avery can as Bruce says "burn through the cash" (her future husband better be wealthy). Zachary was a trooper for a bit then just got bored and went to sleep.

Now that Avery is back to school and Bruce is back to work, it will be me and Zachary hanging out during the day. I will have to remember how to work my schedule around naps, lunch, laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I am going to try and not sweat the small stuff (Bruce says ha ha ha ha ha, yea right!).

First day of school!
