A visit to the home of William the Conqueror

Saturday was what Bruce would call a Chamber of Commerce day. The temp was in the upper 60's, sunshine, and no humidity. A perfect day to get in some English history. We headed 1-1/2 hours north to Warwick Castle which sits on the Avon River. It was built in 1086 by William the Conqueror and used as a fortification until the early 17th century when Sir Fulke Greville converted it to a country house. It was owned by the Greville family, who became earls of Warwick in 1759, until 1978. There was lots to see and do at the Castle. We visited the Great Hall and State rooms. Avery and I also visited the Princess tower where Avery helped pick out the accessories for the princess' wedding! We saw the Birds of Prey show where the birds demonstrated their flying and hunting skills. Avery and Zachary really enjoyed this. Avery and Bruce gave archery a go. They shot 3 arrows each and Avery proved to be the better shot!! All in all, it was a great British day!
