We eventually arrived at our chalet, Snowchateux, to welcoming hosts and a warm cooked meal. We booked a 1/2 board chalet where the hosts cook breakfast and a 3 course dinner for you along with cakes, fruit, and bread for tea time every day! We were definitely spoiled but it's the only way to go!
The snow was perfect. Fluffy powder! A couple of days we had "white out conditions". This is when the sky is the same color as the mountain and this made seeing the slopes difficult. The other days were perfect. The sun was out which is how I like to ski. The views were beautiful. I kept having to pinch myself!
All the kids took lessons everyday until noon. They all improved each day. Bruce said by the end of the week they were "semi professionals". One afternoon, we took Avery up the mountain and we took a wrong turn coming down. We ended up on a "black" slope..NOT GOOD! We made it half way down. Then Bruce carried her and skied the rest of the way. A kind lady carried her skis and poles down for them. I had went ahead trying to get myself down without panicking. I thought I might would need to find a snowmobile to go get them! Didn't make that mistake again. After that, we skied mostly the blue slopes and paid very close attention to signs!
Zachary hung out each day with a ski nanny called Lucy while we skied. He loved her and had a great time. She took him up the mountain several times and played in the snow. He loved being outside and riding the shuttle bus! He also played with trains, finger painted, and blew bubbles.
It made me feel good to know he was in good hands.
It was a great trip and it took a little time to get back in the groove of cooking!
