We knew since we brought Zachary home that he would need surgery to remove his little extra thumb and last week it happened! Zachary did great. He never complained during the whole process. He went to sleep with me, Bruce, and the medical staff singing "Wheels on the Bus"! The procedure took about 1.5 hours. I didn't know what to expect regarding recovery as far as pain, but Zac never complained of pain. The next day after surgery he was back to his usual self. It was an answer to prayer! The doctor said all went well..fairly straight forward case. He did some bone, muscle, and ligament work. Doc said there is only a 25% chance a second operation would be needed. A part of me is going to miss that little thumb!
We go back next week to remove his bandage! The doctor will also tell us what therapy will be needed.Here are some pictures of the little patient.
