What was supposed to be 2 days of looking at houses turned into just one day! Bruce wrote the wrong dates in his calender... he says his calender is a mess..(overloaded basically). He did feel really bad about it! So, on Monday, instead of looking at houses, we shopped around browsing furniture and cars.
Definitely will be a small car of some kind so it will fit on the sidewalk. (Cuz that's where they have to drive sometimes! There is only 2 lane roads and no turning lanes. (that's where the sidewalks come in!)
Most of the cars are standard manual transmission but I will need an automatic. Sometimes, there will be the need to "punch it" and I can't afford for the car to die on me right as I'm beginning to "punch it" if you know what I'm saying!! Just too risky for me! Keep you posted.
On Tuesday, we looked at houses all day. I felt like I was on an episode of House Hunters International except instead of looking at 3 houses, we looked at 15! It was little overwhelming. We've realized most all our furniture will have to be stored. Will be able to take very little as far as furniture goes. None of the bedrooms have walk in closets. They have wardrobes. All I'm thinking is "I need to get rid of some clothes". Bruce proceeded to say (in front of the Realtor) as he opened the wardrobe.."Stacy, this will fit about 4 pairs of your shoes". What nerve! He just smiled at me! Anyways, that's just the housing in England. Most of the British park their cars in the drive and use the garage as storage. Guess that's what we will be doing. We liked different things in each house but narrowed it down and eventually settled with the house in Esher. It has a little character to it. Gives you a feel of the English way of living with some modern touches. It's a 10 minute drive to the school and about a 10 minute walk to Esher High Street. Gotta love that! See the picture below. We are excited to have this part behind us. Now, Bruce will not have to live out of the hotel. I know that gets old after awhile. More to come!
Look at that! I just noticed the house has a white picket fence. How quaint
