Blenheim Palace

We headed to Oxford to visit Blenheim Palace. It's the home of the Dukes of Marlborough since the 1600's. The 11th Duke currently resides there now with his 4th wife. We actually saw him pull up in his Range Rover and go in to the private quarters. The palace was built and given as a gift to the 1st Duke of Marlborough by Queen Anne. He successfully led the forces of a European Alliance against the French in the War of Spanish Succession preventing the complete dominance of Europe by France. Winston Churchill's grandfather was the 7th Duke of Marlborough. Churchill was born in 1874 here at Blenheim Palace by accident. His mother was not due for another 3 weeks. She had a fall which caused her to go into labor. We were able to see the bedroom where he was born. I'm loving all the history!
