Torch Day

Yesterday was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Bruce was nominated and selected through his company to be an Olympic torchbearer. He carried the torch in the town of Walsall which is approximately 2 hours north of our home. He ran the first leg in Walsall which started at Town Hall where there were thousands of people gathered. People began lining the streets 3 hours before the event in order to be able to see the torch (it was a real party atmoshere!). Bruce said he has never thought so hard about how to run or been so nervous running. The event was covered live on both BBC radio and several television stations. Bruce's mom was actully inteviewed by the BBC radio live before the run. All in all, it was great and he made it to the end of the 400 meters without any stumbles, trips, or falls:). Once he was finished running, hundreds of people gathered around to get their picture with him and the torch. Not quite a celebraty, but it did feel like the paparazzi was out! He gets to keep both the track suit and the torch. It was a true honor that Bruce really appreciated and will never forget.
